I’ll be playing it soon when my copy is shipped and I’m back home. Hyped to play this in between Oblivion sessions.

The prologue is absolutely mindblowing

Not usually a fan of turn based combat but everything else about the game looked so good I thought I’d give it a go. So glad I did, what an amazing game so far- and the combat is phenomenal

Oh gawd, this, Oblivion and the Days Gone remake in the same week!

It's probably my favorite game since Rebirth. The combat,music and voice acting are all top notch.

Yep about 8 hours in now and it’s quickly becoming my goty so far!

Needs a minimap. But otherwise great so far.

Of course I'm playing it. This game has more in common with FFVII than the actual FFVII remake.

I've never got on with turn based games - until now. Only a couple of hours in but already gagging to play more and surprised at how much I'm enjoying the combat

Yes and it's very decent so far. That beach cutscene was absolutely brilliant and a proper wow moment. I really love the music in this game too, especially the track that plays in the Manor.

Still trying to get the hang of the dodge/parry timing for all of the different enemies.

I'm not very far into it yet but I've very much enjoyed everything about it! So happy to see it performing well. Sandfall really did just come out of the gates swinging with an absolute banger.

I hope I'll be able to put my current Diablo IV addiction to rest and play this.. it's sitting ready on my PS5, had it preordered.

Yeah, I’m playing it. I completed the prologue and have a second party member now. I’m already gripped by its narrative, and it’s not afraid to make bold decisions. The combat is also, in my opinion, the greatest turn based combat I’ve ever played in a video game. It truly is something special and unique.

Lost me at turn based combat...

I do plan to get this as some point. When exactly? I don’t know.

No, I've never been a fan of turn based combat games. A couple of years ago I fell to the hype of Baldur's Gate 3, and dropped after 10 hours, don't plan on making the same mistake (although technically I could try it on GamePass).

Not yet for me, it's on my wishlist but right now I've got The Hundred Line, Oblivion Remaster, Phantom Brave The Last Hero and Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning to finish, plus Fantasy Life coming in a few weeks so I can't justify adding another game yet nevermind another long WRPG.

But im rooting for this game to be a massive success, which in return maybe convince Square Enix people do want turn based Rpg's so they can go back to making mainline games turn based again.

I'm slightly concerned that the QTEs will be a turn off. We'll have to see.

Will be getting it for my birthday next month. I have the week booked off work.

I pre ordered coe33 from amazon.ca with a price error back in December, unsurprisingly amazon didn’t have enough stock to meet preorder demand or my order. No delivery date estimate either. I’m going to hold out to see if amazon eats the loss and ships me the game or cancels my order.

Playing it as soon as I finish Daxter. I refuse to leave a game mid-playthrough due to the odds of coming back to it being lower.

I did play the prologue and it left unsure whether I would enjoy it or not.

So as it didn't immediately grab me Oblivion Remastered & Balders Gate 3 patch 8 are more of a priority.

I will go back and put time into Exp 33 but it's going to be in a month or so at best.

Definitely want to give it ago after I'm done with south of midnight and oblivion

Not technically “playing” yet, but my physical copy is waiting on my shelf for as soon as I finish the endgame of Alan Wake 2. Let’s get Obscur!

I've just completed the prologue so far and ... wow, it's already beyond my expectations. And I don't know if it's going to win GOTY25, but it probably already wins the most sad and pathetic beginning in a game.

I'm very interested in it, and would be playing it had Oblivion not dropped the same week. Soon as I'm done in Cyrodiil though, it's on.

@IntrepidWombat you can turn QTEs to auto in the menu if you desire.

Absolutely riveted by the story and world and characters.

Absolutely cannot stand the turn-based combat. Total deal breaker for me.

The QTE elements do nothing to resolve that for me. I actually feel they make it worse as I just find it frustrating when I fail to do a perfect hit or parry. I have no issue with parrying in other games, but I can't do it well in this one.

If it had the action gameplay from FFXVI I'd probably go buy it for my PS5 Pro.

Unfortunately with this gameplay I think I'm done and won't be playing it any further. Back to Oblivion for me.

If I were a turn-based combat fan though, this would be a GOTY contender I reckon.

A few general grumbles:

Cutscenes don't match the state of your character - hair styles, how bloody they are etc.

Also the attributes - I don't find it particularly obvious what I should increase. Will end up Googling builds and to be honest I'm sick of doing that in games. I wish it was more obviously meaningful at that decision point and the immediate feel after.

Also what I hate in games like this is spec'ing out a character before I have a full party, and therefore not really knowing how I'd want them spec'd for the synergy at the time I'm spending the points.

I feel like the promotionals and updates were handled well for this game —
It wasn’t on my radar when it was announced (I don’t even remember seeing its reveal) but then I had mild curiosity with some of the screenshots and story details earlier this year, enough to catch my eye. And then when the gameplay footage was circulated a couple months ago it ratcheted up more on my interest level because it looked so unique and stood out. …And then the reviews just blew the top off and the hype reached full force.

So many game announcements nowadays rob us of all those little steps in between where we get small incremental shots of hype. They announce a game and then we see and hear nothing for two years until the final few weeks before release (if we’re lucky).

Or alternatively, they announce a game a few years ahead and then we get random updates that end up being poor and show the game in a poor light and buggy. Then there’s a release date, and then a delay, and then another delay. Or we get an avalanche of information for months leading up to the game with multiple gameplay demos, early access betas, big dedicated directs or state of plays, only to be followed by more trailers and more gameplay footage, until we’re just sick of seeing the game and have lost the magic of any anticipation.

It all about the art of the tease, and yet not withholding too much so we don’t lose interest. Sandfall and Kepler Interactive seem to have struck a good crescendo of hype for this one. Well done.

Today vanished in a blur most Obscur! Everything about this game is wonderful. Congrats to Sandfall on 500k sold on day one!

30 people made this , good grief what a phenomenal achievement,playing it now , the music is very final fantasy , the graphics are sublime with some great character designs, why do we have a team of hundreds making garbage with unlimited amounts of money, lazy , untalented, greedy ? Gonna be tough game of the year this year i feel , if gta6 releases what are they gonna choose ? Also ghost of yotei is gonna be fabulous we know this, but shouldn't we give it to a game like this , with devs clearly passionate about their art , you can feel the love in every single pixel , superb work.

Not yet. I'd barely heard anything about this game until the reviews dropped. The glowing reviews for it took me by surprise.

I still think FF13 had the best combat system. A bit of everything! Smashing those paradigms on the fly was so awesome.. change my mind

There's too much out! When I can justify the cost, I'm all over this.

@Mergatro1d this comment might have sold me on it. I actively avoid turn based combat games, especially the Japanese ones. I find the screen clogging damage numbers goofy and off putting BUT, I just had to try Baldurs Gate 3 and it's just incredible. This might be next!

The OST is amazing. I am love art style too.

So glad it’s good, very excited to pick it up but my kids are very into racing at the moment so am playing Forza early access with them at the moment. Top of my list for after that though!

GOTY hands down. Makes Indy look mid in comparison.

I'm not interested with the game and has been burned out with turn based RPG. So no, i don't play it nor i have any intention to buy it.

@MFTWrecks @PuppetMaster don’t let that put you off this. The parry and dodge system in place is absolutely incredible. It really blows traditional turn based combat out of the water and makes the whole thing feel active and action packed. The combat is so fresh and compelling. I’m not a fan of jrpgs but this is something else. Voice acting, story, graphics, world, characters are all absolutely perfect. Been a long time since a game got me this good.

I've played up to the first boss. This game is ***** awesome

@Ward_ting I mean, I have never enjoyed a turn-based game whatsoever. I'm not sure "slightly more active turn-based" is worth it to me.

Honestly even before the reviews - as a proud Shadowheart simp having Jennifer English in the cast was enough of a selling point, never mind all the other amazing actors in it.
