Reminder: PS Plus Extra, Premium Lose 8 Excellent PS5, PS4 Games in a Few Days

@Darude84 That's why they're excellent as PS Plus games. Titles you wouldn't normally buy, but would try on a subscription service.

animal well is an amazing game, super recommended.

@LiamCroft Don’t really follow that logic I’m afraid 😅 A 7/10 being added to a subscription service doesn’t make it excellent. There’s a reason you normally wouldn’t play it.

I must say, I completed both Kena and Zau last minute and both were far better than my expectations. Sometimes an "average" game can still give you a lot of enjoyment if you gel with it.

The service is declining on both fronts: quality and quantity. Feels like we’re getting less, and enjoying it even less.

PS: Nour has proudly held the title of “Most Hated Game” on my list for the past 3 years. Still undefeated

@Darude84 It doesn't make them excellent games, it makes them excellent additions to ps+

It's games that many of us considered playing, but weren't sure if we'd like them, as opposed to e.g. God of War that you know how good it's gonna be. People buy AAA games without much thought and when they're offered years later on ps+, they may be excellent games, but terrible additions, since most of the people interested in them, already have them.

When new games drop I always check which will leave in a month so I can play them and I'm like 90% sure Disco Elysium was added later to the executioner's list, which is extremely scummy.

I suppose at least this time we are losing 8 and getting 9, and quality largely seems to balance

This service gets worse all the time I've cancelled my subscription to premium and extra dropped to essential now which is pretty great the 3 games a month which Is great value for money

Isn't Disco Elysium getting removed too?

Kena was great, puzzles and mostly open world. Animal Well was interesting, great as a metroidvania, a bit confusing at times. Stray Blade was another souls like, gameplay and maps were great, ending kinda meh.

Everyone should play Tales of Kenzera: ZAU

@naruball I know what is meant, but don’t agree on that logic. Mediocre games are just shovelware.

Kena was a nice little game. Enjoyed it!

Yes! I double checked the list 3 days ago and saw that one up there too. I immediately started a playthrough as it's one of the games I really wanted to play. Hopefully I can finish it in time.

Bought Kena as soon as I got myself a PS5 and regret nothing. I hope you all had time to complete it.

@Darude84 people who have actually played the games have been singing their praises, but feel free to call them shovelware or whatever you want. You do you, boo.

@Darude84 That’s not what shovelware is. A 70% review aggregate constitutes the majority of current Ubisoft releases, middling metriodvanias, and janky but still fun RPGs. Also Frogwares games.

Shovelware is typically made by developers who just want to release their game, regardless of the quality.

Animal We’ll was my GOTY last year. The sense of discovery in that game is unparalleled. So many secrets and no hand holding. The game explains nothing. Everything must be figured out on your own. Never was quite able to find all 64 eggs (I came close) but I did get all four flames and I refused to consult a guide. Hate that it’s leaving. I’ll probably end up buying it in a sale one day.

@NotTelevision Perhaps not shovelware then, but most definitely not excellent value either. I’m thinking about games such as Returnal, Demon’s Souls and GOW: Ragnarok (all on Plus) when using such terms.

Doesn’t really matter though. It’s just that Push Square more often than not oversells stuff a bit too obviously. Not a disaster by any means, but it makes it harder to determine if something interesting actually did happen.

The only loss here is Animal Well and Kena. Great games.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is better than Prince of Persia, it's not bad at all that they're retiring Deliver Us Mars instead of Deliver Us Moon but Kena is an important loss.
