In case you missed it, yes, the recently released co-op adventure Split Fiction is already being adapted to the big screen, and according to Variety, it already has some big names attached.
In a new report from the publication, Sydney Sweeney is set to star in the film, as well as executive produce.
The actress is known for her roles in Everything Sucks!, Euphoria, and many more. According to Variety's sources, it has yet to be decided which of the two lead characters she will play.
The same report claims that Hollywood director Jon M. Chu will direct the adaptation.
Chu's previous work includes Wicked (and its upcoming sequel), In the Heights, and Crazy Rich Asians.
The screenplay is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who previously penned the script for Deadpool & Wolverine.
If this report is to be believed, there appears to be a lot of solid talent involved in the Split Fiction movie.
The game's story throws together two aspiring writers, Mio and Zoe, who end up stuck in a simulation of their own fictitious worlds. There's potential for this to be a fun action flick, though the focus on co-operative play will of course be lost in the transition.

Your typical looks over talent actress. Unfortunately that means that it'll probably make bank.
I adore this game, on my 3rd playthrough, but I’m not sure how I feel about a movie adaptation. They’re always a bit hit and miss. The story and theme fit the concept of a coop game perfectly, but how that’ll translate to a feature film is another question altogether. With how proud Josef Fares is of his team’s work on this game it’s difficult to see him sell the IP out to the standard Hollywood corporate slop factory, so hopefully it ends up being decent.

You would think she would play Zoe and somebody like Isabela Merced would play Mio. I would be curious how they are going to squeeze everything in, or split into 2 films?
To be honest, the story felt like the weakest part to me. I played this with my partner, and even she was skipping the cutscenes, so I can't even imagine who their target audience is supposed to be... (gamer guys who like boobs, supposedly?)
I just imagine a cgi slogfest without any real substance. Not too dissimilar to the game then... 😉

@Orpheus79V @Bagwag82 She was 1 of the stars in "Madam Web" which may have erased or blocked her from some people's memories like some weird cosmic spell. Having her play the plain boring homely looking one was a choice. 😂

It's funny that we used to have blockbuster films and they then spawned a game on the home consoles/computers of the time (e.g. Batman on the ZX Spectrum, C64, Amiga) and now we just seem to have films being made of games.

@Bagwag82 Madame Web's a relatively recent film set in the Spider-Man universe that's famous for being an embarrassing flop. It's surprising you haven't heard of it as it was all over the internet when it came out due to being so bad. Most people haven't seen it but they know about it due to it being a massive meme, same as Morbius.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is a Tarantino film, you have to have heard of that, surely? 😅

Hollywood is so desperate to plunder the video game market in order to turn a profit. There's an Outrun movie due to dribble out of a director's derriere in the future which shows how flimsy a video game movie plot can be.
Damn we really are in the era of remakes haha.
Live action or animated? I might be interested in it, if it was animated. But I'll still probably watch it if it's live action. Depends how well it looks.
Going to be interesting seeing the Mio/Zoe sex scene. You know it's coming. (pun intended)
