This author will forever associate GEX with the ill-fated 3DO, as the Crystal Dynamics character was positioned as a mascot for the console, before properly finding a home on the PS1.
Many of Naughty Dog’s most instrumental staff, like Evan Wells and Bruce Straley, worked on the series in their earlier days.
So, the upcoming Gex Trilogy will carry real historical value when it releases on the PS5 digitally from 16th June, then. As a reminder, here’s what it includes, courtesy of the press release:

GEX
- HBO comedian Dana Gould fuels GEX with over 300 hilarious one-liners and sound effects.
- GEX’s mouth gets him in trouble, but it’s his thrashing tail and suction cup paws that get him out.
- GEX has been sucked into the Media Dimension, the place where cheesy 70’s movies go to retire. To escape he’s gotta kill TV’s in each world.
- Over 450 frames of smooth 3D animation and hand-rendered backgrounds!
- GEX jumps and sticks to everything while thrashin’ secret levels in search of elusive remote controls.
GEX: Enter the Gecko
- Huge Media Dimension Levels, all designed as sarcastic parodies of popular TV and movies.
- Innovative Camera Control! Explore and look anywhere in beautifully textured 3D worlds.
- Talkin’ Trash! HBO comedian Dana Gould delivers over 500 sarcastic lip-synched impressions and one-liners!
- Over 125 Slick Gecko Moves! Whip-cracking tail attacks, flying karate kicks, tongue grabbing, and climbing up walls!
- Master of Disguise! GEX sports a secret agent suit, kung fu uniform, spacesuit, and other costumes.
GEX 3: Deep Cover Gecko
- All-new character mechanics! Scuba diving, gliding, machine gunning, fire-ball hurling and more!
- Baywatch’s Marlice Andrada stars as the beautiful Agent Xtra spoofing buxom spy babes of the past.
- All-new intuitive 3D camera system.
- Over 25 all-new disguises! Private GEX, GEX Capone, Count DracuGEX, and more!
- Over 1,000 wise-cracks and celebrity impressions from comedian Dana Gould.
- All-new secret playable characters.

Yes, that really is original artwork by Final Fantasy’s Yoshitaka Amano. We’ve no idea how Limited Run Games managed to secure that, but the result is incredible in our opinion.

Much like how Rayman is a character from the Jaguar, and Lara Croft from the Saturn. The PS1 pilfered everyone in its conquest.
Also, quite odd its only the US dub included.
There's only the US dub with Dana Gould?
Hard Pass.
Danny John Jules was great as Gex in the UK version of Deep Cover Gecko. Honestly one of the best parts about it.

They asked him, like any other commission he receives. A few years ago he did a commission for a FFVI fan arrangement album. The real question is what part of the package will be substandard because of the money they’ve spent on it (all of it probably)
@HallowMoonshadow oh I didn’t know about this
If you’ve never played it and are wondering if it’s good: it’s not.
This press release should probably clue you in right away.
Danny John-Jules was Gex in the UK. I hope they add his voice lines via patch.
"Baywatch’s Marlice Andrada stars as the beautiful Agent Xtra spoofing buxom spy babes of the past."
We didn't know how good we had it
@Kanji-Tatsumi Go watch some porn, bro. It’s available 24/7 at the tap of a few buttons. In the 90’s you had to stay up and watch the late night Channel 5 “Erotic Thrillers” on a Friday Night.
As much as I love the games, I can't for the life of me remember which version I played. I would guess the UK dub but it may have been a USA import. I'll have to listen to some playthroughs.
Can't wait for the Dunkey video on this one.
No Danny John Jules? Thats a biiiig negative not gonna lie
That’s a shame, I didn’t realise there was a ‘US’ and ‘UK’ dub, but I definitely didn’t recognise the voice work. I may have to pass on this one. Ill somehow have to decline the $200 inflatable Gex sex doll, difficult though it’ll be.
@HallowMoonshadow Have they confirmed this? It's a big 180 for me if his voice isn't in it. That's going to be an enormous share of the nostalgia sale for Brits.
@AndyKazama he was in gex 3. In the second one it was Leslie Phillips
I doubt it, but i really hope they split the trophy list into three separate ones.
Will be a day one for the digital version, as nice as these physical versions are they never do proper retail versions for them in the UK so I’ll have to pass on them
@Ken_Kaniff
I doubt it Rocket Knight Adventures resparked and Jurassic Park classic games collection are examples of multiple games in collection from them and have one trophy list.
With how Sony are doing PS trophies now we wouldn’t get a platinum for each game if they had separate trophy lists
I have nostalgia with enter the gecko but even as a kid I knew it was more frustrating than fun. Probably didn't help that I didn't watch movies so I didn't know any references besides the Star Wars ones. Besides that, these ports seem really bare bones and it leaves me wondering why they didn't just release the games as classics. Oh right, money.
@Dragoon1994 Yea you make a good point. Its disappointing. Sony had a perfect system with the PS4. Look at the Crash and Spyro trilogy.
@Ken_Kaniff
Yeah I know.
TR 1-3 have PS4 platinums but not PS5.
Soul Reaver 1&2 remastered the trophies for Soul Reaver 2 are done as dlc trophies and only has the plat for the first game.
Then there’s loads of classic remasters/remakes done for the PS4 that have separate trophy list and each game has a plat.
That being said MGS Master Collection has separate trophy lists for them all.
I’ll be getting Gex but digitally.
I’m still wanting to get Croc and probably will soon.
I have the physical deluxe edition of Soul Reaver 1&2 on pre order.
I still miss the communities that one of my favourite things of the PS4 and also miss dynamic themes since Sony don’t seem to be doing them anymore either
All great valid points. Hell even the Croc remaster doesn't have a platinum smh. 🤦♂️ Since we're on the subject of trophies whats your opinion on the main trophy UI on PS5? Lol
