Like most things in life, everything comes full circle. Final Fantasy 13 may have been considered a massive disappointment when it first debuted on the PS3, but the trilogy has since picked up plenty of fans, and is now considered something of a cult classic through modern eyes.
The emergence of this Lightning figurine has the series’ fandom practically pulsating with goodwill, then. Inspired by some artwork by character designer Tetsuya Nomura, it’s set to be released by manufacturer Good Smile Company in the not-too distant future.
One fan asked: “Is that her remastered look?”
Unfortunately, it’s unlikely to be a hint at anything, because Good Smile Company is also working on Noctis (Final Fantasy 15) and Fran (Final Fantasy 12) figurines.
Still, with most of the Final Fantasy franchise fully playable on the PS5 these days, we wouldn’t mind some kind of remastered Final Fantasy 13 compilation completing the set.

Maybe a hot take, but I really want a FFXIII trilogy remaster collection, I know these games get crapped on most of the time, But honestly they deserve another chance, also the OST is god tier.
@Oram77 It's not really a hot take anymore. Loads of people want this!
I genuinely enjoyed 13 when I played it back on release years ago. 13-2 was fun but I wasn't super big on Lightning Returns.
But the figure looks really nice! I hope we do get a Remaster of the trilogy.
I will only smile when they launch a Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy Remaster, as I never played any of this games back in the day, but I really want to!!
@get2sammyb @Oram77 @freddquadros Honestly, a remastered XIII has the potential to look about as good as games this generation if done right. I think the 13 trilogy would be more appreciated by the current climate of gamers than the gamers that were prevalent when it released.
@somnambulance JRPGs were extremely unpopular for some reason during much of the PS3 era.
@somnambulance @get2sammyb they were and they made a real comeback on PS4. It’s definitely time for a XIII trilogy remaster though 🙏
The two main problems FF13 had, were the long narrow corridors for most of the game, and the other being the story (the final boss basically being a meme), oh and all the buzz words being thrown around at the start of the game is very confusing lol.
Cannot wait for a FFXIII trilogy remaster collection! Hopefully it's in the works
@Mikey856 @get2sammyb It sort of feels like JRPGs fell out of favor because the PS3 era was an era where high tech visuals and newness were the taste, and turn based combat didn’t fit that mold, even if the visuals were what one would expect from the era. It felt like a clunky mix. I remember thinking FF13 felt like a weird mix of the past and the future while being detached from the present.
Open worlds were novel in those times and I think player freedom was something developers wanted to cultivate, and, in those days, I think we all sort of ate that up. Also, most of us bought into the multiplayer models that would become live service a few years later too. FF13 was something else entirely. It’s a very odd duck for that era.
I think JRPGs came back in a big way because I think a lot of people realized how much their tastes shifted and grew nostalgic for the games they grew up with and potentially had a deeper connection with as well. Honestly, if FF13 released for the first time today, I think a lot of people would be all over it and I don’t think Square realizes that.
I love the XIII trilogy, including XIII, however, a remaster will really fix the biggest issue with XIII. People will mention the corridors, which is true (but not greatly different to what we get now), but it’s that it doesn’t really take the training wheels off the battle system for the first 20 hours, and it keeps forcing you into parties that don’t really gel. A speed up function would greatly help with this, so that you can get to the real meat of the game (which can easily be missed if you just push forward with the story).
Yep, that's FF7 remake all right. Oh, you thought I was talking about why FF13 was disliked when it released?
I love the 13 trilogy (ok, the first 2...didn't connect with the third). Would love a remaster. Would also like that lightning figure, but assume it will be expensive.
I'm sure they'll both be very excited.
@Oram77 not a hot take at all! Would love that and would have every mainline outside 11 on Playstation would be great
Noctis looks superb. Lightning is pretty cool, too.
Not a fan of XIII or Lightning (but really, not a fan of any characters in that game)
I'll wait for a potential FF9 character figurines. I do want to see that Fran figurine tho, would be nice to see it alongside a Balthier figurine if they decide to make one
How I wished Final Fantasy XIII was.
Less Cocoon, more Gran Pulse. (Something like 8 to 10 hours Cocoon and 30 hours Gran Pulse were we are discovering many locations and Cities.)
Gran Pulse being bigger than it was. The Archylte Steppe was just a bigger Calm Lands were you are able to move the Camera.
People in Gran Pulse, I hated that Gran Pulse isn't populated with humans. It's so lifeless with only monsters and Robots.
Battle System to be like FFXIII-2 only without the monster catching part.
Level progression not to be limited through chapters. And being able to fully maximise our characters before beating the story.
Being able to use Eidolons as transport.
Mini games during the Gran Pulse part. The Cieth Stone mission became boring very fast.
Caius Ballad being the main villain than the one FFXIII had. He never made sense to me.
Oh Fran...
I mean uhh, yeah, never actually played FFXIII but heard mixed things about it. I suppose a remaster would be worth taking a look at.
The figures from some of my least beloved Final Fantasies look nice. I am sure they will cost all of the monies.
Give me a trilogy remaster collection please
A remaster/remake of XIII will be great. The game still looks great on the PS3. Didn't really like the sequels of it, it ruined the original ending.
Yeah, a 13 collection would go down a treat
It’s kind of weird to think that the only modern console you can play every FF game up to (but not yet including) 16 is an Xbox.
Didn't like the "level caps" in FF13, otherwise the game was quite fun. The sequels is where I mostly didn't have fun at all. At 13-3 with that time limit I was basically questioning my love for FF alltogether xD
I don't think FF can get high on my list anymore without a return to turn-based or ATB systems
I'd happily buy the Lightning figurine if the price doesn't end up being ridiculous. That's the only thing that's held me back from having more video game figures. Having to spend $150-$200 just for a figure is ridiculous, and some of them don't even end up looking like the characters well enough (Final Fantasy 7 Remake ones being prime examples).
Like it or not it isn't right it's the only offline numbered FF not to be playable on new consoles. And what makes it worse you can play it on Series X not PS5 😅 give us a remastered trilogy
Anyone who loved FF16 has very few excuses to hate FF13.
Im sure 13 has its fans but i didnt enjoy it sadly the beginning of the game is linear it doesnt open up until chapter 11 i also couldn't stand the characters except for Fang
