If you recall, horror developer Bloober Team said it's done making "sh*tty" games, and this new trailer for Cronos: The New Dawn shows it might be holding to that.
Releasing this year on PS5, Cronos: The New Dawn is a sci-fi survival horror action game with quite the setup. Playing as a Traveler, your mission is to extract select people from the past before their deaths to a cataclysmic event. You bring them into the future, where horrifying abominations have left the world a harsh wasteland.
Gameplay wise, the game looks to be in a similar vein to Resident Evil or Dead Space, with over-the-shoulder, third person action at its core.

A clear message in the video tells us to not let the creatures merge, showing how they grow stronger if you do. It seems there will be an element of strategy to encounters in order to avoid the monsters becoming too powerful.
It looks like it could have potential; if the story can deliver on its twisty time travel premise, this could be another solid game for Bloober following the highly acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake.
What do you make of Cronos: The New Dawn? Tell us in the comments section below.

I'm still iffy about Bloober Team, but this does look really cool. I like the idea of killing these monsters as quickly as possible before they merge and become abhorrent nightmares to deal with.
I’m sold enough to give it a go at release. Hope it comes together!
Even though I only played a bit of Silent Hill 2 Remake on the missus’ account (i’m saving it for a proper time-investment on my own) it was enough to move Bloober from ‘not bothered’ to ‘I’m in’ on this.
I love Dead Space and this is looking like a closer experience to that than The Callisto Protocol was ever gonna be. Hope it reviews well and it’s a buy from me.
Everyone (me included) expected SH2 remake to be terrible, but it ended up being one of my favourite games of last year and completely turned my expectations on Bloober Team around. Couldn't care less about them this time last year, but I'm suddenly quite optimistic on this!
LET BLOOBER COOK!!
After SH2R I am 100% behind this game.
For me, what I liked most about SH2R was the surreal vibe of the town and the characters. Who knows at this point whether this game has any of that tone. What I liked second best was the creepy design and aesthetic of the levels, which i think this trailer shows they might be pulling off again. So yeah, I'm interested.
That gameplay trailer is amazing.the gameplay. The graphics. Monsters.this game cronos the new dawn is going to put blooper team on the map after the excellent silent hills 2 remake.word up son
It looks like Dead Space and Chernobylite had a baby. The merging mechanic sounds great too.
I love that they are aiming for more. My nephew was a game dev for about 20 years in various roles and mostly worked on mobile stuff and poor licensed games like Barbie. He was always so frustrated with the boundaries that were imposed on them as creatives and how they always wanted to do more but has so little budget and autonomy. It's great to see a studio of creatives freed from some of those shackles.
I was intrigued by the cinematic trailer, this gameplay teaser has got my attention. Looks solid, definitely Dead Space and Resident Evil influenced. No bad thing.
Looks neat, but the title is generic as heck.
I'm cautiously optimistic, as I really did like SH2, but also most of the people that worked on that game probably didn't work on this one, since it's already releasing this year.
This piqued my interest and will probably be added to my backlog list.
I'll happily pre-order this game based on the above video alone (although I have seen other stuff that they have shown). I for one cannot wait...
Looks good the name reminds of the film to be honest
This looks awesome. Probably one of my most anticipated games for this year.
Looks good to me
Looks really good and based on SH2 Remake I'm pretty optimistic for this one.
I really don't know how Bloober managed to go from mediocre horror games to be a legendary studio in like days, but hey I am all up for it. This looks like it can scratch the Dead Space itch.
I just beat Silent Hill 2 remake and it is one of my favorite games I’ve played on the PS5. I am undoubtedly hyped for this game! Although I need to get Dead Space remake finished up before this.
Okay, this has my attention. I will probably consider to purchase this day one since it just looks so good.
Looking forward to the reviews, hoping for a demo to play.
Sold, add to cart! The Silent Hill 2 remake was a masterpiece; I have full faith in these guys, just like I did before that game released. Bloober has leveled tf up! Love seeing the outdoor environments here too—yay it’s not all just corridors on a spaceship! Did I mention I am sold?
This looks cool and more Dead Space than Calisto Protocol. But i hope the end product will be much better than the mediocre Calisto Protocol.
Count me in. (Maybe with only one eye open though.) 👀🙀
I like what i saw but i'm going to wait to see how will it run on ps5.
It's exactly my cup of tea,but it seems to combine a few things that need a great story to come together. So let's hope for the best and i hope we get more details and a date soon.
@RBMango still iffy about them? Oh god 🙄
@Fluberuper I know you not whining over a title
@PuppetMaster they didn’t do Callisto protocol
@Muscleblackcop It’s not going to stop me from playing and—hopefully—enjoying the game, but I do believe it’s very generic. Titles can be very important. They’re usually the first thing someone sees about a game and can pull in new players who may have otherwise skipped it. If you like the title, that’s fine, but I personally don’t think it’s the best.
@Muscleblackcop Who said they did Callisto Protocol?
Polish development teams are killing it at the moment! This looks right down my alley
Layers of Fear was one of the most insane experiences I've ever had in gaming and probably the most unique. I think I just happened to play it at the right time in my life, where everything in the game just clicked and the horror really got to me. That game made my skin crawl in a way I'd never felt before with a game and had me genuinely scared at parts. I've replayed it but it never came close to the same experience as that first time. Which is to be expected I suppose. Since then, I've played Observer and Layers of Fear 2 and I didn't enjoy either of them. The latter I thought tried too hard and was more cheesy than scary. I gave up after a couple of chapters. Which was hugely disappointing. I was happy to see them make another quality horror with Silent Hill. Unlikely I'll ever get to play it though, unless it comes to Switch 2. Let's hope the dev's words hold true and we only get quality games from them now.
I hope they meant SH2 too amongst those “***** games they’re done with” cos then we’re in for something truly spectacular!
@Fluberuper ahh I see ok
@PuppetMaster you compared it
