GSC Game World has revealed it's releasing a native PS5 version of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Trilogy package it put out last year on PS4, and anyone who already owns the game is getting a free upgrade. It'll be out on 20th May 2025.
You can see the enhanced PS5 version in action in the trailer above, but the main feature will be the introduction of base PS5 and PS5 Pro-specific modes:
- Quality Mode
- Native 4K resolution at 30FPS
- Balanced Mode
- Upscaled 4K resolution at 40FPS
- Performance Mode
- Upscaled 4K resolution at 60FPS
- Ultra Performance
- Upscaled 2K resolution at 120FPS
There will be keyboard and mouse support on PS5, and you can also use mods via mod.io. In terms of further visual improvements, you can look forward to enhanced lighting with godrays, upscaled textures and 3K models for NPCs, and advanced water shaders. Finally, the cutscenes have now been rendered in 4K and the field of view has been updated to allow for better visibility during combat.

The now-year-old Legend of the Zone Trilogy brought Shadow of Chornobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Prypiat to consoles for the first time, and they've all been followed up by STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. It's available on Xbox Series X|S and PC for the time being, but was leaked as only a timed exclusive.
Will you give the original STALKER trilogy a go on PS5? Let us know in the comments below.

Hopefully paving the way for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on PS5 with Pro Enhancements and trigger functionality!
@ButterySmooth30FPS wouldn’t hold out hope just yet, release is still a pretty buggy mess on Xbox and PC, and the community are very vocal about it being a disappointment in many ways, especially when it comes to the fabled A-Life implementation which is a huge downgrade from the prior games.
Also with the developers being a smaller team and dealing with the Ukraine war still, I’d guess we won’t see a PS5 version for at least another year; although I’d be happily surprised if that changes and we get it earlier; I enjoyed the game on Xbox technical issues and some disappointing mechanics aside.
@ButterySmooth30FPS Be still my beating heart if that ever happened.
Nice. I really like 1 and 3. A good opportunity to boot them back up.
I did not know these games were on PlayStation...
@DonJorginho In my excitement, I failed to consider any of that. Are the bugs things like framerate or overworld streaming that extra power could fix? Or things like falling through floors and inventory disappearing?
@ButterySmooth30FPS most bugs are still related to quests and story progression, performance also took a massive drop on PC with the last patch, to the credit of the devs they release a patch every few weeks and are working hard on it, just feels like even after all the delays it came out just a bit too soon.
Glad to see this. Hopefully they release the second one on Playstation here soon.
Another rumor that turns out to be true. I heard whispers a couple of weeks ago but Mods weren't mentioned. Nor was 'free', this is a great move by the Dev as is the FOV upgrade. Might be time for another Roadside Picnic.
I’m glad I waited on playing these for this update
@Liamcroft will PSPlus get the free update?
@Jacko11 Yes, the PS5 version is included in the PS Plus Extra drop next week.
@LiamCroft excellent, top man!
I've got these on xbox they was cheap a while back , hardly played them , just didn't click with me
@ZeroSum you can even get them physical by ordering the japanese version of the box. Multi language and cheap at that!
